The Zitelle Breakfast is an experience to savour without haste: it is an ever-changing combination of simple flavours and local produce, carefully selected to give you an insight into our most authentic tastes and bring to mind the sensations of bygone days.
The breakfast room is in the main building. On one side it overlooks the small square and on the other it overlooks the internal garden. It used to be the dining room, with a long central table, where the entire family would gather for dinner on Sundays: on one side sat the head of the family with his wife, then the unmarried daughters, the sons and daughters, the daughters-in-law and finally, at the bottom of the table the children, who naturally had to be silent.
It is those children, now grown up and aged, who ate in silence while forced to listen to the discussions of adults, who are now the precious witnesses to the life that once was.
A theatre of everyday life, of everyday issues, of exchanges of views and heated discussions, this environment has been kept as much as possible as it was, only now much more comfortable: the same exposed beams cleaned and brushed; the same poor terracotta floor underfoot, the heating system guarantees good warmth even in winter; a good insulating layer was added internally to the thick stone walls and the fittings were redone the same as the originals, but with double glazing and the appropriate insulation. The air-conditioning refreshes on the hot summer days because breakfast at Le Zitelle is an experience to be enjoyed without haste, in maximum comfort.

On the buffet table you’ll find, depending on the season and availability, fresh bread of various types, but always sourced from local bakeries; mountain butter where possible; homemade jams; freshly made brioches in various flavours, made by hand by the award-winning pastry shop Alla Villa dei Cedri di Valdobbiadene; biscuits and meringues either homemade or from the same pastry shop; tarts and soft cakes prepared at home with home and seasonal fruit; walnuts and hazelnuts and fresh fruit from our trees, including some fruit better known in the past, such as carnelian, medlar and jujube; espresso or mocha coffee from Italy’s smallest coffee roasting company, located in Valdobbiadene’s central square, which mid-morning every day and then in the early evening, floods the main square with its delicious aroma.
And then, freshly squeezed orange juice prepared on the spot with the best oranges available; yoghurt in various flavours; a rich selection of teas, herbal teas and infusions; soft-boiled, scrambled or fried eggs, always very fresh because they are sourced locally from the farm just opposite the structure; honey from the same farm, whose hives can be seen from our windows, and salami and sopressa from the same source. Lastly, cheese from the mountain pastures of Monte Cesen and Monte Grappa, from the dairies of the Cansiglio plateau or from the Belluno area, to be enjoyed in combination with cornelian jam, or with Treviso red chicory, blanched in vinegar and preserved in oil.

If you wish to have an early breakfast, when booking, you can ask for the ‘DIY breakfast package’ containing your preferred food and drinks, which you may prepare in your room.
In this particular moment caused by COVID19, the buffet has been suspended and our breakfast, varied and abundant as always, will be served at the table.
In order to guarantee social distancing in periods when we have many guests you may be requested to take breakfast at different times should it not be possible to use the garden.
